Pilot Flooring — LVP Floors Done Right in Southern Utah

About us

Raised on job sites, then we found the floors

We grew up in construction. Our dad built homes, and from the time we were big enough to be useful we were on his job sites — carrying material, cleaning up, and eventually doing real work. That is the whole of our childhood, more or less: houses going up, and two brothers in the middle of it.

Somewhere in there the flooring became ours. We did it on our own houses, then for family, then for people they sent our way. And the results kept coming out good — better than good, honestly. Floors that were flat, tight, square, and still right a year later. The side work kept growing because the work kept holding up.

At some point you have to decide whether that stays a side job forever. In 2026 we took the risk and started Pilot Flooring together, doing the one thing we already knew we were good at: LVP installed properly, so it lasts and it looks the way it should.

Who does what

James runs the installs. He is the one on his knees with the tapping block, and he is on every single job — there is no second crew we hand your house off to.

Avery handles the measuring, the quoting and the scheduling, so when you call about your job you are talking to someone who has already seen it.

Neither of us learned this from a weekend course. We learned it the slow way, on our dad’s job sites, which is also where we learned that the part nobody sees — the subfloor — is the part that decides whether a floor lasts.

Why only LVP

Doing one thing beats doing nine

We get asked this a lot — why not carpet, tile, hardwood, the rest of it?

Because the difference between a plank floor that lasts twenty years and one that gaps in eighteen months is almost never the plank. It is the subfloor prep, the expansion gaps, the acclimation, and knowing how a particular brand behaves when it clicks together. That knowledge only comes from doing it over and over.

A company that installs five different floor types is splitting its practice five ways. We would rather be the people you call specifically because this is the only thing we do.

It also happens to be the right floor for Southern Utah. It is waterproof, it handles the dry air without cupping the way real wood does, it takes red dirt and dog claws, and it does not fade out under the sun through a west window.

  • The owners do the work

Not a crew we hired last week. The two of us, on your floor.

  • We answer the phone

Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, and we call back the same day where we can.

  • A written price before we start

You will not get a surprise at the end. If something unexpected turns up, we stop and talk first.

  • Clean job sites

Dust controlled, your things respected, and our debris leaves with us.
